ARE WE HUMAN, OR ARE WE DANCER?

Lately I’ve been re-listening to “Human” – the 2008 song by The Killers.

Listen to the audible version of this post at: God in Sixty Seconds

This song was voted Best Song of 2008 by readers of Rolling Stone.

The song’s chorus goes:

“Are we human, Or are we dancer?”

This is the question that haunts all of us.

Are we merely “human” – just a species of life?

Or are we more?

Can we also be “dancer” – people who dance, imagine, dream, hope, create, play?

We know that the answer must be – we are dancer! – but how can this be, if we’re only atoms and molecules?

The answer is that we are more than atoms and molecules. We are more than the sum of our parts. We are also spirit.

We have been created in the image of God.

And God himself is Dancer.

And God has made us to be dancers – who find greatest joy when we dance our dance with God.

So the next time you dance like you just don’t care – know that it’s only because there’s a God who cares for you.
